Our regular Japanese Language course is split into 5 levels:
Basic, Intermediate, Pre-Advanced, Advanced and Further Advanced.
These courses are available as once or twice a week PART-TIME classes
and INTENSIVE Monday to Friday daytime classes.
BASIC
Starting from the Basic level, we focus on the very fundamentals of the language and promote well rounded development in the aspects of reading, writing, listening and speaking in its native form.
The textbooks used are Minna no Nihongo
1-1 and 1-2 .
Completion of this level equips you to attempt
JLPT-N5
INTERMEDIATE
At the Intermediate level, we focus more on grammar and will touch on the various forms, including: Transitive and Intransitive verbs, Volitional form, Imperative and Prohibitive forms, Conditional form, Passive Voice, Causative verbs, Honourific and Humble expressions.
The textbooks used are Minna no Nihongo
2-1 and 2-2.
Completion of the
level is equivalent of JLPT-N4.
PRE-ADVANCED
The Pre-Advanced level continues to build on the Intermediate level by reinforcing the grammar forms previously learnt while adding new content in the form of practical-use conversation, role-plays and topical discussions. The textbooks used here are Shin Nihongo no Chuukyuu 1 and 2.
ADVANCED
The Advanced level will focus on listening skills, reading and comprehension of passages and cover higher level grammar present in the JLPT-N2 standard. Upon completion of this level, 70-80% of the JLPT-N2 grammar will have been covered. The textbook used here is Chuukyuu kara Manabu.
FURTHER ADVANCED
The Further Advanced level is a continuation of the Advanced level and further expands on vocabulary. For this level Jyoukyuu de Manabu is used. Additional activities such as
drama viewing and review also supplement this course.
JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (JLPT)
PREPARATORY COURSE LEVEL
N3/N4/N5
The JLPT preparatory course for levels
N3, N4 and N5 is a short revision course that comes at the end of the Basic, Intermediate
and Pre-Advanced levels. For this, we will revise and reinforce grammar and explore common mistakes made by students, as well as go through past year papers.
JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (JLPT)
PREPARATORY COURSE LEVEL N3-N2
The N3-N2 preparatory course is designed for those who have passed their
N3 or N4 and wish to attempt the N2 in the following year. Each level will take six months to complete and will teach over
170 grammar, study comprehension and listening techniques and go through a series of tests to familiarise the student with the
N3 and N2 formats, standard and content.
This makes it possible to attempt two levels of JLPT in the span of one year.
JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (JLPT)
PREPARATORY COURSE LEVEL N1
The N1 preparatory course runs for nine months, starting after the
N2 results are released in March.
This course is similar in
structure to the N3-N2 course and will focus on the
essential advanced grammar and vocabulary found in the
N1 level.

REPLACEMENT AND MAKE-UP CLASSES
At Ikoma, we understand that our
students have busy schedules of their own.
Which is why we offer replacement classes and make-up
sessions. Replacement classes
can be requested for, within the same week, to classes
on other days, within the same batch.
*No limited number of replacements, but subject to
class vacancies.
Should you be unable to replace a class, we can still
help you catch up by offering
a short 20 to 30 minute make-up session (not
cumulative), before your next class begins.
Do note that the purpose of these sessions are to enable
a student to follow the class.
It is not an entitlement, nor is it meant to cover the
contents of an entire lesson.
*Make-up sessions are available only to Basic and
Intermediate classes.
